I love horses, and riding them. I started begging my parents for riding lessons when I was six, and started lungeline lessons at age eight. I’ve ridden pretty much steadily ever since and have had some fun, horse-related jobs.
I’ll run absolutely anywhere my feet hit the ground which means I’ve run in Bermuda, Wales, Italy, France and all over the United States and Canada.
I’m addicted to downhill skiing and, while I have some big favourite mountains – Lake Louise, Whiteface and Mont Tremblant – my heart remains in the Gatineau Hills where I first raced Nancy Greene and where our family skis every weekend in the winter.
I love being Canadian and I love this country but home, for me, is Eastern Ontario / Western Quebec. I feel centred pretty much anywhere from Kingston, Ontario to Wakefield, Quebec.
And of course, a little shout-out to Wales is necessary. Without Wales I wouldn’t be here – my grandmother was born and bred in Maerdy – and I married a Welshman, which means (I think) my children are sixty-two-point-five per cent Welsh.
